5 New Year’s Resolutions For Your Pup

5 New Year’s Resolutions For Your Pup Jan 2022

It’s the New Year, which means new goals. At Aussie Pet Mobile, we believe that the health and happiness of our furry friends should be among our top priorities for the New Year ahead. While setting your New Year’s resolutions for your furry friend, you’ll find your goals aren’t so different! Here are five resolutions you and your dog can work on together so you can both have your best year yet.

Resolution #1: Eat Healthier

When determining a weight-loss plan for your pet, it’s best to consult your veterinarian for guidelines on dog food, portion sizes. A simple way to help your pup eat healthier is to ensure that you are feeding them the correct amount of food for their size. Many pet parents overfeed their dogs, which results in unhealthy weight gain. Choose treats that are made with natural ingredients and don’t contain any artificial preservatives, added sugar, or salt. Remember to practice moderation; multiple treats at a time throughout the day can add up quickly!

Resolution #2: More Exercise

Regular exercise can keep both you and your pet in good shape! Walking, for example, has countless benefits. If you and your canine companion need extra motivation, incorporate more playtime in your routine for you and your pet. Discover an alternative route that your furry friend enjoys. Or look into joining a neighborhood walking group.

Resolution #3: Schedule a Trip To The Vet

Visits to the vet are important to spot out-of-the-ordinary conditions early, plus give you the opportunity to ask any pet-parenting questions. Be prepared to answer basic questions about your pup’s eating, sleeping, and potty schedule.

Resolution #4: No Screens During Walks

Leave that cell phone in your pocket on walks so that you are truly present. To start, try walking without your earbuds every other walk. It’s the time you spend together that builds the relationship.

Resolution #5: Go Somewhere New Each Month

Get out there and explore with your dog at your side. Novelty is great fun for most dogs. Going to unknown places is the best way to capture their curiosity. Making a monthly goal to adventure to a new hiking trail, beach, park or neighborhood will increase your special bond with your furry friend.
